Music at Trinity 2007 Spring Concert Series

Hildegard von Bingen, "Five Hebrew Love Songs," and an Ice Cream Social...Music at Trinity presents a lively, varied experience sure to delight the traditional music lover.

Music at Trinity is excited to present its Spring Concert schedule. Music is a vital part of life at Trinity Parish Church, and our newly restored historic Sanctuary and traditional Parish Hall are exceptional venues for the enjoyment of a wide range of performing arts events. Our professional music staff , trained choir , and artist-in-residence groups, plus a variety of guest artists, will delight you with music from the Middle Ages to the 21st century.

Our beautiful landmark building, restored to its 1903 splendor, is in the English Gothic Revival style and offers excellent acoustics for performers and listeners alike. A repertoire covering centuries of highest quality classical and traditional music comes alive in this exquisite setting, where visual ambience and glorious sound combine in a profound concert experience.

Trinity has several artist-in-residence groups, including the Sacred Music Chorale, The Renaissance Singers, and The Trinity Consort. We are proud to associate with highly talented local artists, and to support and encourage young musicians.

From medieval chant to large choirs to an old-time brass band, Music at Trinity invites you into the living art of traditional music. Join us for some truly enjoyable events!

The suggested donation for each event covers only a portion of the cost. We invite you to become a Friend of Music at Trinity by making a gift. The New Baroque Orchestra
On Saturday, February 2, at 8:00 p.m., the New Baroque Orchestra, Artists-in-Residence at Trinity, will present a concert of music for strings, recorders, and harpsichord.  The New Baroque Orchestra is directed by Ingrid Matthews, Music Director of the Seattle Baroque Orchestra.

The Trinity Consort presents "Fascinatin' Rhythm"

Join us for a concert of early music featuring complex and intriguing rhythms!  The Consort will bring out all its unusual and interesting instruments for this delightful program, which includes works by Gesualdo, Gibbons, Machaut, and more.  Saturday, January 26 at 7:30 p.m.

ORGAN RECITALS ARE CANCELED FOR JANUARY DUE TO HEATING PROBLEMS. 

Each Wednesday, Trinity presents a 40-minute organ recital by one of the Northwest's many professional organists. Our excellent organ, with over 3,000 pipes, was built by Rene Marceau out of the foundations of the original 1902 organ, and is considered one of the finest instruments in the city. These year-round concerts are a perfect way to bring some live music into your work week and spice up a lunch hour.

In its anticipated second season, Mirinesse Women's Choir will again delight audiences with sensitive artistry, lush sound and captivating repertoire from around the world. This year's concerts will include Porpora's setting of the Magnificat and Eric Witacre's haunting "Five Hebrew Love Songs" both with string quartet, the very contemporary "Magpie" by Seattle composer Bern Herbolsheimer, folk songs from Bulgaria and the Czech Republic, and more.

Langpapp Great Hall at Trinity Parish Church

Experience a different kind of "traditional" music as Cornucopia recreates the sound of a turn-of-the-century brass band. The band performs music from the 1890s to the 1930s. An ice cream social in the Garden Court will complete the atmosphere of a bygone era-and you might even want to take a turn on the dance floor of the Parish Hall as the strains of familiar waltzes, polkas, and songs drift in from the Garden!

June 13: David Lines

David presents a two-part program on organ music for the synagogue. David is the organist at Holy Rosary Parish in Edmonds and the Seattle Chapter AGO Newsletter editor.

June 20: David Lines

David continues with part two of organ music for the synagogue.

June 27: Paul Mitchell

Paul is the Organist/ Choirmaster at the Church of the Ascension in Magnolia.

One-hour free parking is available at the U Park lot at 7th and Columbia. You must tell the attendant you are attending an event at Trinity Parish Church.

The members of Trinity Parish's newest Artist-in-Residence group, The Trinity Consort, present an afternoon of their favorite early compositions. This eclectic program features music from the Middle Ages to the Baroque, for voices and a variety of instruments and percussion. Seattle artists Peggy Monroe, Molly Seibert, and Tomo Morita join Trinity musicians Jo Baim, Marily McAdoo, and Linnea Olson in this exciting new ensemble.

Women have been a perpetual source of musical creativity and inspiration. The Cascadian Chorale and Cascadian Singers ample the diverse richness and beauty of pieces composed by women and those in praise of women. Featured composers span the centuries, from medieval Hildegard von Bingen through Renaissance Rafaella Alleotti to Romantic Fanny Mendelssohn, early 20th-century Lili Boulanger to contemporary Karen Thomas and Alice Parker. Included are selections by rarely-heard Estonian composer Ester Mägi and a world premiere by UW Professor Giselle Wyers.
